What to look for in power & charging gadgets
Two numbers decide a power bank: capacity (mAh) and output (watts). For phones, 10,000mAh with 20W+ USB-C PD is the sweet spot; for a laptop you want 20,000mAh and 65–100W. For wall plugs, a GaN charger is the upgrade worth making — far smaller and cooler than the old silicon bricks at the same wattage.
What to watch out for
Capacity is rated at the cell, not the output — in practice you'll get about 60–70% of the printed mAh into your device. And a cheap cable that doesn't carry the right PD profile will silently cap your charging speed no matter how good the charger is.
How we choose
These picks come from current top-rated, in-stock products in this category — filtered for genuine review counts and live availability, then rebuilt every week with prices refreshed automatically. So the list reflects what's actually worth buying today, not a frozen ranking from last year. Links are affiliate links; placement is never paid for.
Best Power & Charging Gadgets: FAQ
Can I take a power bank on a plane?
Yes, in your carry-on, up to 100Wh (about 27,000mAh) without airline approval — which covers nearly every phone and tablet bank. They're never allowed in checked luggage.
What charger wattage do I actually need?
Phones 20–30W, tablets 30–45W, laptops 65W for ultrabooks up to 100W for larger machines. One 100W GaN charger can usually run all three from a single plug.
Is wireless charging worth it on a power bank?
It's handy for a quick top-up, but it's slower and wastes energy as heat. For fast, efficient charging, use the USB-C cable.
